Structural Efficiency of Hollow Reinforced Concrete Beams Subjected to Partial Uniformly Distributed Loading

Reinforced concrete (RC) beams containing a longitudinal cavity have become an innovative development and advantage for economic purposes of light-weight members without largely affecting their resistance against the applied loads. This type openings can also be used maintenance usage space communication lines, pipelines, etc. RC are primarily loaded in plane members, which two-dimensional stress state dominant structural behaviours include bending, shear, or combination both. In present study, six numerical models with were simulated by using commercial finite element software ANSYS to evaluate those beam under partial uniformly distributed load. Different parameters assessed, including opening dimensions shear reinforcement ratios. The obtained results analysed verified found very close from experimental investigations literature. increase ratio could enhance flexural capacities beams, showed that some sustained failure while others combined bending shear.
